    davydenko's famous match
Months after highly unusual betting patterns set off a red flag in the infamous Nikolay Davydenko-Martin Vassallo Arguello match, the tennis world has yet to recover.

davydenko' story does seem plausable, that there could be a leak about his sore foot. he did have a stress fracture from the doctor...but he could easily paid the doctor off. and he did really well in the US Open.

he is more german than russian. but those three russian accounts were opened with false name...highly suspecious.

there is no doubt the match is fixed, but it'll be impossible to prove. as time drags on, it'll be harder for ATP to find more supporting evidence.

my theory is that someone has leaked the information that he might not complete the match. he has a lot to lose for match fixing...i don't think he is dumb enough to do that.

Davydenko brought up a great, albeit obvious, point.

Why would a top 10 player fix a match? All risk, very, very little reward.

Lower ranked players probably do it all the time, but it just isn't worth the risk for higher ranked guys.

I like Davydenko, I like how he plays.

The only reason he would fix a match is if the Russian Mafia was threatening him or his family

I can't believe we are still talking about this match. Unless you saw the match, then you can't really say whether or not Davydenko tanked. Davydenko was born in the Ukraine but spent his formative years in East Germany. He plays Davis Cup for Russia as does Tursunov who grew up in Southern California.

so betfair and the atp cannot locate the owners of these betting accounts. does this mean that betfair will get to keep the money from those accounts? wouldn't that just be rotten luck for the match fixers!!
