Sponsey it's unpredictable for two reason
1)The Shield and the networks wanted parody.Parody is good for the bottom line
2)The are no rivalries any more because the players move during free agency and don't want to make enemies as directed by their agents

Teams do not really have to show up every week when other teams in their division are dropping games as well.

The tight divisions show much greater consistency (Jets, Patriots; Steelers, Ravens).

Performance levels will probably get more consistent later in the season, when there are no more excuses. The greater parity so far will produce more games down the road with playoff positioning written all over them.

This is incorrect. The real reason is cause of parody, influx of new players at key positions, injuries and play calling. This year seems to be more unpredictable than the last three-four years have been but after week 8 and all you will start to see power shifts solidify more and more. Thus predicting games and scores will get easier as we progress later and later into the season....it's like that with all sports.

When 2nd and 3rd stringers are playing along with banged up starters playing it makes games sloppy and unpredictable

ugh, its the most predictable of all sports.

What surprise did you see? Only Rams winning SU was a surprise.

Everything else was to the tee.

There's only 1 to 3 unpredictable games a week in the NFL.
