I have stayed on the strip a few times and this time Im looking to stay downtown. Is the Nugget a no brainer or what? Four Queens? Fitgeralds?

don't think they are remodeling just closed like Binions

Golden Gate is horrible. Fremont if you want to pay less than GN.

I found Fremont to be almost GN's equal in room quality ( south Tower). no pool but that is unimportant in Nov.

Golden Gate, so you are right across from the Glitter Gulch

Fremont is a good choice...... it is a Boyd property, which at least has some decent standards for economy accommodations.

The Cortez recently remodeled and the furniture and stuff and it's pretty decent. However, the a/c-heating units make a lot of noise.

It's just down the street from a night club that stays open until 3am. Unless you're going to be up until that time I wouldn't suggest you stay there.

Oh yeah, there are police stationed at every corner. It's not in the best area of downtown. If you are going out at night I would suggest you take your vehicle. Don't walk in that area unless you're looking to score some drugs.

Stay at the Nugget, eazy peazy.

If you get a chance, go eat at Triple George steakhouse. It's like a block away from Fremont. Phenomenal food.

yeah i wandered off the beaten path last summer downtown at night, pretty scary stuff

                                  have fun

sitting in the hot tub at golden nugget or hanging out at "gold diggers" looking over downtown are some good non-gaming experiences
