#2No. What I would have done though is due diligence on the sportsbook I started with instead of taking someone else's word for how "trustworthy" they were.Originally posted by MadCapperIf you could go back in time to the day you were introduced to gambling would you walk away?Comment -

#4no, because sooner or later i'll start gambling. my theory is that gambling is like chicken pox...better get it while you're young so you'll build up good defense against it. if you start when you have a wife and kid, you might end up hang yourself.Originally posted by MadCapperIf you could go back in time to the day you were introduced to gambling would you walk away?Comment -

#8No. I really love this. I honestly can say this is in my blood as an Irishman. I enjoy it immensely and can't imagine my life without it. It is my passion and the challenges along the way -- all the very bad beats (the buzzer beaters, the blown saves, the fumbles, etc), while infuriating and driving me to drink often, are all a part of the mosaic. This is a journey and one day, in the end, I will conquer this wonderfulfully intriguing passion of degenerates and royalty alike. It's fascinating that this is one of a few activities that is both the calling of royalty and the degenerate. For the degenerate it is shameful and for royalty it is a highly regarded hobby. It is inspiring, enigmatic and compelling. I LOVE it!Comment -

#19They only good thing that would have come out of me walking away would be saving some of my time. But i would waste it on some other crap like games, so it doesnt matter. The money i spent gambling is less than i would spent if i was drinking instead or spending on chix
So.. i dont care, so no i wouldnt walk away. If i wanted to, i'd do it today

#20No. That would be real close to 46 years ago when I made a 5¢ futures bet -- Literally, a nickel -- on baseball and as far as I'm concerned my life has been pretty damn good ever since then.Originally posted by MadCapperIf you could go back in time to the day you were introduced to gambling would you walk away?Comment -

Well this thread does self-select for people who would answer no. I'm sure if you went to a GA message board and posted the same question no one would say no.Comment -

#22Started with pitchin pennies/nickels in middle school. Shootin pool against neighborhood kids for a quarter a game.
Bet one of my friends a quarter I would strike him out in little league. Struck him out the second time for general principles.
2 card guts on camp outs. Pot games at the bowling alley.
I gambled early--and just like today, I made sure the odds were in my favor. Wouldn't change a thing.Comment -

#23Honestly, I wish sportsbetting was never introduced to me. Even when I am up, I don't feel as great as you think I should feel. I'd rather sit down and watch a game for fun and spend more time with my wife and kid, then switch from game to game nightly. But I can't turn back the clock now, can I?Originally posted by The HGWell this thread does self-select for people who would answer no. #29Yes.
Totally ruined my body, mind.
Ruined friendships, reputation.
Delayed my education
The list goes on
I shouldn't say gambling ruined it. I ruined it by gambling.
It's all fun and games if you're winning, and I've had my share of ups, but I'm just so impulsive, I always end up losing everything.
Anyways, I would walk away in a heartbeat.Comment -

Gambling ruined me.
Gambling does something to some people, turns them into pathological gamblers.
It isn't fair to not take some of the blame, though.Comment -

#32A few months ago I would have said yes...got down big early and kept gambling trying to get back to even using all of my paychecks...basically scared money so I just got deeper and deeper. Would just pick a game instead of researching ...started playing smarter at the end of Nov and have worked my way back to near even. I enjoy it a lot more now.Comment -

#33NO!
I've done thousands of things in my life that I regret. Amazingly, gambling is not one of them. I never even thought about it until I opened this thread. If anything, it's caused me to waste a lot of time. But, I've wasted more time on more meaningless things. Now, if i could have all of the time back that I wasted on video games, that would be something!Comment -

#34I"ve always only gambled with money I could afford to lose. When I went to school I couldn't afford much so I rarely gambled. I did play cards every friday but that was hardly gambling. Even tho I knew I could it just wasn't money I was willing to risk. I still can handicap horse's pretty good even tho I rarely go.
For those who can't handle it or it ruins things, they are the gamblers who have to quit or should quit. If drinking ruins work, relationships etc. same thing, you should quit drinking or make Amy Whinehouse your girlfriend (at least she's got coin).Comment -
