best reason in my opinion is the ease of transactions. If you win 5 grand that week, you go and pick up cash. If you lose 5 Grand, you go and drop off the cash. No waiting around on checks wondering if the bank will cash it. No going to western union to wire money to offshore books.

This is true. Ive gotten myself in a bad position several times doing that.

most normal handicappers have locals who are based online and have the same type of setup that the overseas books have.
