Can anyone tell me what a USB thumb drive is?

My computer has been having a hard time starting up lately. Ive scanned it with AVG and Adaware, no virus or spyware. A friend suspects my hard drive may be on the way out, but tells me I should do a system recovery before I do anything. He tells me I need to back-up my files before I launch a recovery using a USB thumb drive. Can anyone tell me what that is, I can't get hold of my friend at the moment.

Thanks Yisman. I had no idea what it was. It looks pretty small, I guess it plugs into my computer somewhere and it's something I have to purchase tomorrow. $50 or something like that??

It depends on how much you need to store?

Do you have alot of video files? or just some documents and a few pictures? you can get an 8GB flash drive for like $20 now --

If you want the extra storage space you can buy an external Hard Drive and get a 500 GB for $60-70
