How do you sell a car thats not paid off?

Tough to say... Anyone that wants to "drive" it would need the Title. The Title is with the financing firm or the bank that holds your loan. So selling it on Craigslist or in the paper will NOT work. The only way would be to sell/lease it to a family member that won't mind that it remains in your name until it's paid off!

Keep making the payments --- you can't get out of an upside down loan these days as easily as you could 5 years ago.

Am I the only one who is wondering how a 2003 Chevy Impala could still be worth $8000? I would have thought that a car that old would not have been worth more than $3500

Just simply tell the buyer up front what is going on and you'll need to complete the deal at the car lot (if a "buy here pay here" or have them pay the loan the same day. Just spell it all out in writing ahead.

You are correct. If I had $8,000 I wouldn't buy an 8 year old car. I'd put that money down on a newer one.
