i love how cards which used to be worth a fortune aren't worth the cardboard they are printed on now

This is why most people go broke. When something is designed to be a collectible it generally ceases to be a collectible. In the old days, nobody thought baseball cards would be worth anything, so they didn't collect them in order to make a profit. That is why they became valuable. many got thrown out.

Now it is just a scam. When I was a kid I would go to the general store and buy one or two packs and be happy with the gum inside. I wasn't thinking about making a profit, even though I would collect the cards.

The whole thing is a fraud now. Even the autographs are faked on jerseys, baseballs, etc.

                Supply and demand.

The older cards became worthless espacially the 90's because so many of them were made. Then ebay came and destroyed it even more. When everyone has something it becomes worthless.

I stopped collecting long time ago. These boxes/cards are redicilious but sort of interesting. Kind of cool to know you only have
1 of 3 made or whatever if its legit.

i had George Brett's rookie card, was something i wanted BAD cause he was my baseball hero when i was a little kid. The thing is worth jack shit now. Not that its a value thing, but those cards aren't that common.
