You can't easily tell the difference when mixing, especially at those ratios...And if you have no problems with hangovers, you'd be an idiot to pay for the premium.

Agreed. For whatever reason, any vodka that lived in a plastic bottle isn't good.

Still, the > $30 stuff isn't noticeably worth it, either.

Yes, I can absoultely taste the difference from Dimitri Vodka to Grey Goose or Belvedere. I love Vodka, but I can't drink that cheap shit.

and btw...'Grey Goose' is not a premium vodka, no matter how often they advertise

Svedka Vodka is pretty damn cheap, and pretty damn good.

I don't drink much Vodka anymore, but I used to drink Gimlets back in the day, and it'd always have to be Grey Goose or something in the same range as that. A Smirnoff Gimlet is no good.

For him sounds like the cheap stuff is just fine tho...Personally, I don't let that stuff reside in my house, but don't drink that much either...And of course for a Martini, you are def going to to want to go for the better vodka. Not really that important for a screwdriver.

EI beat me to it. Can't tell the difference once it's mixed. When I go out to a bar/club, I like to have the first few drinks as premium shit. Then usually on my 3rd drink, I switch to whatever's on the well. Smirnoff or absolut vodka, local rum, etc.

Agreed, I think it's on the lower end of the spectrum. I think Grey Goose is terrible.

Agreed, as a friend of mine says, Grey Goose is not an alcohol company; they're a marketing company. However, it's not like there's a wide selection in CR. Belvedere, Grey Goose, Citroc, and a few others.

Svenka and Pinnacle are good cheap vodkas.

There's a vodka out now that comes in a green bottle. All the bars are using it now as there well vodka and it's the worst hangover ever! Every time I drink that crap I'm near death the next day. I wish I knew the name to warn people.

Doug, I hate to admit this but I have a vast experience on this matter. Basically, there are two judges: the taste buds and the whole body.

If you like your vodka mixed then taste wise the only difference is between flavored and unflavored vodka. While unflavored vodka will taste the same, the differences between variety of flavored vodkas are huge. Again, for mixes, I like Grey Goose Citron and Smirnoff Orange. There are many flavors, keep trying until you find the one you like, in my opinion it is much better than unflavored.

The second and more important factor is how your body reacts to a given brand. This you will know in the morning after consuming 0.5L or more. Anything else would be a waste from a standpoint of obtaining scientifically meaningful results. Whenever you feel fine in the morning, add that brand to your arsenal, if you do not, never drink it again. If you never feel well afterward, perhaps, you might want to change your poison.
