Ever bet AGAINST the team you are rooting for?

I want to root for the Rays tonight since I am from Tampa, but I am in 50% on this game with a friend and we got the Rangers since I let him choose the game. I really did not want to bet the game if it was not the Rays, but he was like BROCK on a rubber band play. Man was 1000% sure on Cliff Lee (Coin flip???). So I let the play go in and hell its only 150 bucks since I am in for half.

This had me thinking, have anyone ever bet for a side, but then rooted for the other side to win? I know I would if it was game #7 of the World Series and my team was in it. I would bet against it for like a dime or so. That way either way I am a winner.

There is a train of thought that if you don't bet too much, you can be happy in the result either way if you do that. I wouldn't know however, as I put aside all vestiges of being a "fan" many years ago.

Just did this a few weeks ago with the Jaguars against the Colts. I was certain that they had already quit for the season and Garrard was packing his shit and on the fast train out. That football game was the most miserable expierence of my entire life. I also made it my 2 time play for BTP and that cost me $ as well.

I did it once in basketball last year betting against Bama vs South Carolina. South Carolina was like a 5 point favorite and Bama shows up and kicks the crap out of them. Bama had played horribly all season and had 1 or 2 starters out. Figured it was guaranteed money. F***ing miserable. Wont do it anymore.
