Bobby Cox should have won more World Series titles, but he's still one hell of a manager. Baseball needs more guys like this. He will certainly be missed.

#3I wish he had gone out for a better send off last night, but it looked like he didn't want the spotlight on him. He might not have won several World titles, but 13 straight division titles will never be matched again.Comment -

Cox severely underachieved in the 90's
Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz? 1 World Series? FAIL

#16Not the greatest game manager I've seen, but a great players manager and a great person.
I shed a tear or two during his postgame press conference, won't be the same without him next year, but I'm content with Freddi Gonzalez.Comment -

#20I'm a lifelong fan of the Braves and I will miss Bobby Cox, but a lot of his success was due to John Shuerholtz (The GM who loaded up our roster with stud pitchers).Comment -

#24They performed pretty close to their payroll over the last 20 years when they had one of the top 2 - 3 payrolls in the game they were one of the top 2 - 3 teams in baseball. When Turner lost a big chunk of his money and eventually sold the team they became a team with a payroll closer to the average and they suddenly became an average team. At least this year Cox was able to take a team to the playoffs for the first time without a top payroll.Comment -

But going 1-4 in the World Series is almost Marv Levy like.. The funny thing is if Bobby Cox would have just won 1 more World Series I don't think there would be any discussion of him underachievingComment -

#30Today's version of Earl Weaver. Both 1-3 in World Series and should have won more.
Earl lost to the Mets as a huge favorite, and led one of the biggest collapses in history, losing a 3-1 lead to the Pirates in 1979, losing final two at home. Year after he retired, Birds won the World Series.
Both good managers, but too many missed chances with great talent.Comment -
