He discovered Costa Rica on his first trip, landed into what is now known as Limon (Caribbean coast), not the Americas.

How does one discover something where people already live?
Today I'm going to discover Detroit.

You believe in it, you are loyal to it, would defend it, and yet have no proof of it, other than that, at one point or another, you chose to believe in it. Self-hypnosis. What if there were a snapping of fingers that broke the hypnosis?

You can be the first ever person to the place like the people who walked over the land bridge at the Bering Strait between the US and Russia. The rest is history.

Nobody "discovered" America. People were already here ! Columbus was just a lost pirate. America is a stolen land.
I'll bet the "Indians" or "Native Americans" really party on Columbus day !

I dont guess you can discover something that is already inhabited, but since these fukin native americans weren't sending messages in a fukin bottle to anyone in Europe, someone had to let the known world know that there is more fukin land over here. Thats what they call "discovered".
There is pretty good evidence that there were many peoples here before Columbus & his crew hit the islands. Several hundred years before actually. The fukin Norse were even here way before columbus

i guess you can contextalize the word "discover", to mean that the europeans found a new land.
a new land, resources, and people to exploit.
i don't get why this is called the new world.
i mean the aztecs, mayan, etc were building empires while the europeans were running around in loin clothes.
