Abe's movie trivia contest after the game. Best War Movie for points!
Sometime after the Giant game I will have a two part trivia contest on the "greatest war film ever!"

This time span goes from 1940 to present day war films.

    1. Guess the correct film and win 10 points.
    2. Another 10 points for guessing what was the key ingrediant that is responsible for me ranking this film as the #1 all-time greatest!

    * A 24 hour deadline for contest after I insert the questions.

** Also, only one guess for each question is allowed for each member. Any second correct guesses will not count. [same rule on any of my trivia contests]

*** Okay, time starts officially now at 12:23 AM CST, contest over at 12:23 AM, CST Tuesday.
I will start checking answers this evening.

I don't get it. You say we have to answer a question? Where is the question? Why did you post the thread but then not start the contest for 3 hours?

K guess ill pretend I know what to do:

I choose "In the Army Now" because of the wondrous combination of Pauly Shore and Andy Dick

Many great war movies and this answer may not count because it is a mini series. Band of Brothers, true telling of the 101 airborne division and their role in ww II, Western front. Great because it was based on the true story, contained commentary by the actual men and that wonderful speech by the German officer to his men from Shakespeare and translated by an American soldier.

Damn Boscoe, you're good! This guy nailed both questions! Unbelievable!

I've seen many war movies, but this one is the most realistic by far I have ever seen!

Lee Ermey is brilliant in this Vietnam war film. No one has ever played a Marine Gunnery Sargent as mean and convincing has him. [And he actually was was a Gunnery Sargent in the Marine Core, himself]

Of course, not many actors could use that standard, well suited, "common" language that he was allowed in his convincing role as a tough, mean, sob.
John Wayne could barely say words like hell and damn.

Stanley Kubrick must have been a genius to be able pull off this grossly, entertaining combat and basic training film, yet, keeping it equally, part comedy and tragedy mixed together, and still make it into a totally believable tale.
Fine actors, protraying meaty roles as, Mother, Eightball, Payback, Pvt. Cowboy and Rafterman.
I wasn't too impressed with Mathew Modine, though.

And that rock and roll music was outstanding! So was the timing of when to insert it was perfect.

One hell of a movie! Can I use "hell" on this forum?

Platoon was probably a good runner-up.
