Competitive eating was meant to be a marathon, not a 40 yard dash.
Has anyone ever tried to get into a sanctioned competive eating contest?Back when competitive eating first started getting popular a few years ago I begged the competitive eating league to let me in the Johnsonville bratwurst eating contest at a big celebration in Sheboygan,Wisconsin. Then I started reading up on it and watching other contests on tv and it didn't look like my bag.I was afraid I would try eating so fast that a real danger would be biting my tongue off.hehe! That and having a stroke from over eating in 90 degree weather driving the 8 hours to get back home.

I actually practiced a few times and timed myself and then matched what I could do with the people who won the contest. The prize money was good and I figured I would have come in 4th place and I think that paid $500 at the time.Gas was about $2 a gallon at the time and you figure in the ware and tear on your car and body and it wasn't worth it.

The pros like Kobeeashi and that Sonya Thomas the Asian woman always win those contests even though they weigh 100 pounds. The thing with these people is that they are totally spent after the contest that lasts just a few minutes. Why not have the contest last at least half an hour and the true bigger eaters could win those contests.

Anyone here ever enter a competitive eating contest? Not too many people want to be labeled a glutton.hehe!I won a piroge eating contest in Canada at a car dealer promotion and as a kid would win the 4th of July watermellon eating contest. Some of the crap food involved in competitive eating contests is pretty gross. It's not bad if it's pizza, burgers, fries, hot dogs or brats but chicken gizzards and clams etc.are a bad deal.

I'm surprised there aren't any sportsbooks that take bets on some of the bigger competitive eating contests? Are there any?

I could do it if it was Taco Bell, soft taco's with no lettuce. EZ.
