As Bill Polian usually does, he opened his big mouth again and has told ESPN that an 18-game schedule is a "done-deal". As a fan of the NFL I am completely fine with the current NFL scheduling. It is a farce to listen to the owners bullshit about more time to evaluate the young talent. The motive for this deal is money, money, money! The owners know that they can financially benefit from a longer schedule, even tho it may only add to the pre-season. I can't see the players agreeing to terms with this deal, as it puts a tough strain on the body. Furthermore, the league is going through a huge "concussion crisis", I think that there focus should be on protecting their assets (players), rather than increasing their risk of injury. What are your thoughts on the proposed deal?

#4love the players whining their ass off and that fukk on fox (chris long? or something i dont know i think he was a defensive end i cant remember his name) going off and making it sound like this is the most unfair thing that could ever happen to the players
makes me not want to watch these whiny biatches but i will anyways cause its football. I mean seriously you are making millions of dollars, if that is not enough find a new profession im sure you will fair much better.I'm sure they'll let you work 18 weeks of the year!
(yes i know they have training camp/stay in shape during off-season ect)

#8Not true. You could already bet on the preseason and since this plan only takes away from the preseason there aren't more games to bet on.
If they're going to do this, they're almost certainly going to need bigger rosters, which would make evaluating the younger talent a moot point since there's less of a need for preseason cuts. It would also probably require a 2nd bye week.
Before we all go talking about this as fact let's remember that at one point, a 96-team ncaa tournament was also a "done deal." When someone says something is a done deal, its because they want you to think it is so you stop fighting it.Comment -

#9As long as they get rid of 2 preseason games. The NFL has been screwing season ticket holders by making them pay full price for preseason games where the starters for the 1st and 4th game might play 1 series. 2 preseason games and 18 regular season games is what the NFL needs.Comment -

#10I love the idea....I mean its something worthwhile for fans, owners, and fantasy football players. But unfortunately I don't see this being approved by the PlayersComment -

#13I'm for it, because it creates more betting opportunities. But it will take down the quality of play. More mistakes. Mistakes could be the great equalizer, so there may be a subtle shift towards dogs.
I may skip the first two weeks in a 18 game schedule, because teams won't be in sync.Comment -

#18i'd rather them play 3 preseason and 17 regular season, as a compromise.
heres why:
1) 2 preseason games doesn't allow up and coming players to have enough of a chance to prove themselves
2) adding 2 more games to the schedule puts a huge strain on players. there are already enough injuries. with more injuries, the quality of play will be compromised.Comment -
