I remeber when i was 14 me and a few of my friends took a job with a guy that owned a local little farm. Paid Like 5.25 an hour. This 80 something yr old man was lapping us when we had to pick the weeds for the corn. My back never hurt so much the old man was permitly bent over like that. I lasted 5 days. Hard ass work..

when I was that age I would work in tobacco 11-12 hours a day, saved enough money to buy my first car. Its good for ya! I hadnt done any manual labor in about, well, probably 15 years I stay in pretty decent shape, but working out, lifting weights, thats all different than getting out at 5am & working your ass off in the 95 degree heat all day. I didnt kill myself by any means, but some of this shit is hard work. I had a lot of fun though

I actually miss seeing the tobacco fields around here. To me that was one of the joys of the summer, seeing lush tobacco fields all over the place. Only a handful of people grow it anymore around here since the government buy out a few years back.

I did some farm work when I was a kid, wearing hip waders in piles of manure. I don't remember what had to be done, prolly blocked it out of my memory.

yeah, the little town Im from used to be nothing but tobacco, now no one raises it. No money in it now, the govt pays you more to not grow it so it can be imported from Asia

Call me uninformed, but I did not know that Asia had become our source for tobacco. No wonder all the additives. I only smoke cigars these days so hopefully I`m safe.
