** Kinley told people after his injury that there was no way in hell he would work in a gas station if he couldn't play football.
Here's my take.He struck it rich and got used to the good life where athletes live in excess.I know minor jocks that played parts of 2 seasons ''30 games total'' in the NHL that have parlayed their jockdom to cush 100k a year jobs. They all work as salesmen for screen printer-athletic wear companies where they go to athletic departments in schools and colleges filling orders.Very easy work where jock sniffing coaches and athletic directors die to do business with guys that played pro sports.
Hell,** Kinley went to college in South Carolina where the biggest industry is athletic wear-pro jerseys.etc.in the mills there. He holds records there and is a legend. No quetion he could have just showed up and did stuff like playing golf with clients etc.and pulled in 200k a year.Lots of side jobs like making commercials, signing autographs at card shows-grand openings.etc.doing some color commentary for games, running a receivers summer camp.etc.
The guy could have been a party animal and just had a wee bit of self restraint where he showed up on time and was half coherant and he could have had a future.200k to these guys for a year round job is an insult it seems.
