Just why is it that SD Chargers Start Off the season so slow/terrible
Yet play good ball in the middle & end of the reg season

Special Teams werent so 'special' today and I can tell ya as an old ball player and high school level coach that special team play is 85% coaching

In the past, it was because they held out star players for entire preseason. They stopped doing that now though, so it's just Norv.

Its not gonna happen this year (the playing good middle & end part). They gave away their 2 best special teams players and instead of being 3-0 they are 1-2, as a direct result of awful special teams play.
The Chargers will still win this division because KC will collapse and Oak/Denver are terrible.

Pretty inaccurate. LT didn't play much in the preseason but I think he had a pretty decent career. Gates doesn't really play in the preseason either, again, hall of famer. Unsure what you are referring to since the Chargers really have no other "star players." As for the norv comment, he doesn't coach the special teams.

Norv is an offensive mind, not a good head coach, so it takes a few months for everyone to realize that the head coach is an idiot on his third gig who has not won shit that is backed by the "Lord of No Rings GM AJ Smith" so we better play well or AJ and Norv will blackball us out of the league.

Right and both got off to slow starts in regular season and became world beaters as the season went on, mirroring the performance of the team.

LT's 1st game of his rookie season he rushed for 100+ and 2 TDs and he held out until the 3rd preseason game. Preseason is worthless unless you are some scrub trying to make a team. The Colts go 0-4 in the preseason every year.

You are talking about one game, what about all the other seasons LT and Gates were there?
As for Colts, preseason record means nothing, main thing is giving Petyon and rest of starters a couple of series each game just to keep their timing. That is what the Chargers players that were held out entirely missed out on,

I think there are some locker room problems in SD
Rivers also is a sellfish player
SD will never win with current coach also

What is the point of starting fast if you have a lock on the division and know you will host a playoff game?
And what benefit is there to starting your stars in the preseason? As I mentioned, LT, Gates, and probly Rivers will be hall of famers. If they had a preseason injury, ala Trent Green in the Rams first SB (Warner)....what could have happened to their careers?

Locker room problems: Yes, there are major ones since Jamal Williams left.
Rivers selfish: The guy played the AFC Championship game without a leg and let LT be a baby for 2 years and force the run when it was a passing offense.
Coach: Norv is fine, he just does not have the motivational speeches that some idiot like Rex Ryan does.....he leaves it up to the players to motivate themselves.

I can't stand the hype SD gets. Every year it seems like it's their year to go somewhere and every year they seem to disappoint. They never win the big game. The biggest was in '08 when they beat Indy 28-24 to advance to the Championship game only to get pooped on by New England. I believe that is the year they won the division with an 8-8 record too. It did help to be a one of the weakest divisions, but I hope that changes this year. I'm joining the Chiefs bandwagon. I hope this is the year SD gets de-throned of their division "dominance". Sorry I just had to get that off my chest.

Right, but the original question was WHY do they start out slow, and I merely pointed out that sitting their players in preseason was a contributing factor. Your statement above makes it seem you actually agree.
