Lions @ Vikings -11.5 Confidence Rating: 5 (lock)
The Vikings had a tough home loss last week against a tough Miami defense. Again, the timing in their offense wasn’t in sync, but this is the perfect time for them to put it all together offensively since they are going up against one of the worst defenses in the NFL. I believe that this will be a statement game for Favre to the fans and critics that he’s capable of putting on an offensive display with the current weapons he has. Also, I wonder how much damage Adrian Peterson can do if Lesean McCoy can rush for 120 yards and score 4 TDs. On the other side of the ball, Shaun Hill will be facing a lot of pressure, the running game will be shut down and those screens that worked well last week against Philly will be better contained by the Vikings, who have a more experienced linebacker core.
N.Y. Jets @ Dolphins -1 Confidence Rating: 4
The Dolphins enter week 3 tied for first in the NFL in points allowed. Their defense improved drastically with the help of their new defensive coordinator Mike Nolan. Offensively, they’ve shown in the past that they can run the ball somewhat effectively against a Rex Ryan defense. Last year, the ‘Fins played the Jets in a primetime game week 5 at home and put up 31 points. In a pick’em, I’ll take my chances with the Dolphins, who are having their home opener on primetime Sunday Night Football against a Jets team that is playing on the road for the first time. A.P. ran all over the Dolphins last week, but I believe that they’ll do a better job. Nolan will have his defense ready for national television.
