Several Seattle Seahawks were in accident today in Detroit, read on
    From yahoo sports

DETROIT (AP) -- NFL MVP Shaun Alexander and several other Seattle Seahawks got a jolt Monday when their van was struck by a mechanical security fence. The players were jostled from their seats, but said no one was injured.

Alexander, fellow Pro Bowlers Matt Hasselbeck, Steve Hutchinson and Walter Jones and Michael Boulware were on their way to a downtown news conference when the accident occurred.

Alexander said the players were in the second of two vans transporting the Seahawks. He said the first van was full of team public relations personnel and cleared through the gate crossing without incident -- "of course," he joked.

But the van carrying Alexander and the all-stars was struck from the side and below by automatic gates while trying to get through the entrance at the hotel complex.

"It was a big jerk. That was about it," Jones said. "It was a freak thing. But everyone laughed it off."

Hasselbeck said he had just removed his seat belt when the gate struck. He said the van was left inoperable.

Alexander said there was a loud bang that startled the players and especially shook the driver.

"It was crazy," Alexander said. "We all got tossed around a bit inside. But we're all OK."

Alexander said he saw Pittsburgh running back and Detroit native Jerome Bettis coming out of the hotel.

"I said to him, 'Do you have one of those automatic things to push the gates down?' He said, 'No, it wasn't me,"' Alexander said.

NFL vice president of security Mitch Ahlerich said the accident would be reviewed.

"The most important thing is that no one was injured," he said.

good thing that wasn't a serious accident, or else this game wouldn't be worth watching.

double B, it's alot worse than that. the highways suck, and you have to feel very lucky if you don't get carjacked at a stop light.

LoL. Certain areas of Detroit are lethal. Roads on Detroit are horrid, what happens is they have extreme temps of hot and cold plus the trucks that deliver the cars and steel are allowed to carry I believe 3-4 more weight on the roads than any other city. Extreme temps of hot and cold plus constant weight abuse all days from the heavy trucks, =a lot of mess up roads and broken concrete.

Another thing of note, Detroit is the one of the most or is the most important city In the USA and maybe in the world. The USA and world economy surrounds Detroit especially, with all sale of cars. If it wasn't for companies like GM, Ford, Chrysler and the thousands are tool and die shops and subcontracters they have, the whole USA will feel the ripple effect. Remember the early 80's recession? City of Flint had a 80-90& unemployment rate. In terms or world sales of all the companies in the world, I believe the Big 3 are in the top ten in sales. If Detroit falters so would the whole USA economy with no chance of a recovery for several years. THis is why people of the USA need to support Detroit since it looks like the once mighty city is the the verge of total collapse. It will not be a pleasant experience if that should happen. When it comes to money New York is the most important, however without a healthy Detroit, the stock market will be a major gloom, with trillions or dollars being lost. The only way to make money then is with puts and shorts.

Sometimes I have done that, My friends lives in a apartment and told me come over, there was a gate. So I waited for one car to go by and then I will zoom right in, I usually made it okay, but I was barely pushing my luck.

Looks like the second van with the Seahawks tried to do that eariler, lol, but got jacked up.
