    OT. Who's got Tivo?
Is it worth it? I just lost my mind with the Verizon Fios customer service rep. (She tells me that Fios is not yet available in my area even though I've had it with them for the past two years.)

Their DVR is $20 a month. Is Tivo a better deal?

IMO if you go the actual tivo route buy a lifetime subscription. not worth their monthly fees over the years

Customer service is exactly what kc said, when you get off the phone you will want to have a case of beer handy.

How much is it? I don't see it on the website.

You guys are right. Their customer service is rated the worst of any company's year after year.

gotta choose a box and then select plan. lifetime looks to be $400 on top of box purchase. monthly fee is $13, yearly is $129, 3 years $300. guess it depends on if you really plan on using it for more then 2.5 years and then it will pay for itself at $13/month

I love my Tivo. Great for watching sports or recording regular shows.
I've been very happy with the Tivo Premiere box.

Picked up a Tivo Series 2 with lifetime subscription off of Ebay for $110 a couple of months ago. Well it worth it unless you have to have one of the new fancy HD ones.

With a proper TV card, you can make a DVR system without monthly fee.
You have to turn on the computer like you turn on the tivo box, though.
