When I was a kid we had to dig trenches twice as big with a potting shovel.

Zeta hard work does one good. Backbreaking sweat makes one appreciate common folk in the world and makes you realize you don't want to be one.

Also a couple coats of cement primer will seal the leaks. Much less messy than fooling around with tar. The tar will eventually harden and actually start breaking down.

Wal, thanks for the advice pal. i will mention the cement primer idea to my dad. we just had a contractor visit our house. contractor had 2 plans that would be less work for us.

he pointed out the water gutter on the roof was faulty so rain was dripping down the side of the house. so we are gonna replace that with a new gutter.

secondly, he suggested to put a drain in the middle of the front lawn. this way the rain will funnel down the drain and thru a pipe which empties in the backyard.
