    The bible code and els
Did you ever see this show on the History Channel? I have watched it about a half-dozen times. I always go nah, this can't be true. But, the facts are incredible, just incredible. I always take any topic that deals with religion with a grain of salt but this one is based on science and religion.

What is your take on this? I am curious. Do you buy any of it at all? If not, how do you explain it?

here is one I remember about the tides there is more just cant remember them at this time

7 All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again. (Ecclesiastes 1:7)

here is a link to where the bible and science talk about the same thing .. in case anyone is interested http://www.clarifyingchristianity.com/science.shtml

                Equidistant Letter Sequence

The Bible Code is a series of words and messages discovered in code using scientific methods. It was discovered by a rabbi sometime after WWII. But, the kicker is computers today are giving more scientific credit to this theory. It really is interesting. If you haven't seen this program you should watch it.

If you want more info check it out on Wikipedia.

Surprised none of you guys saw this.

This will definitely freak you out. Tons of historical words and sentences are found in a very tight matrix in the old testament. Words like this, Hitler, evil, slaughter. Also, twin towers, fall down and other very freaky stuff.
Now these words aren't just scattered around, they are all found in a very distinct and accurate and tight pattern.

Hip injury, miles on your car and other non related sports topics. I wonder why you singled out this one.

Also, it isn't about religion, it is about a scientific study on the old testament.

No Nostra is a joke. This is completely different. Scientifically studied.

I've seen something like this in the past. I also enjoy things like this. I admit I never looked much into it though.

Is it the one where they take the Aramaic texts and I think take letters in a sequence to form words which have relevance in this age?

Yes exactly. And these sequential words and sentences are highly related and are discovered using a very specific method. Some of the scientists claim the odds of this being chance is well over a billion to one.
                                          That is what intrigues me.

Even as an Atheist I love stuff like this as well. However, anyone can predict the "future" after it has already happened. Have you looked at the JohnGalt2341 code? I've predicted all kinds of things after they happened. I have a friend at work that always says "HE KNEW" this team would win etc etc. I always ask him how much he bet on the team "HE KNEW" would win or cover. More times than not he says nothing. I always ask him why he didn't lay a ton of cash on it if "HE KNEW" it was going to happen. Then he usually says "I ALMOST DID!". My point is, what does the Bible Code say about the future? Let me guess... nothing. And if does it say anything I will bet my SBR points against YOURS that it will be wrong. Name something specific that the Bible Code says about the future. I don't care what it is but it has to be specific. I will bet my points that it will not happen. Keep it mind that it has to be specific... not horoscope type stuff like... "The Earth will suffer troubled times in the year 2011" or some stupid shit like that. If it says something like "In 2011 a Meteor will land in Los Angelos killing 2 million people." I will give you my points.

I'm not too sold on the Bible Code myself, but Rabin's assassination was foretold. The people who found it actually tried multiple times to get in touch with him and warn him.

Another example of an alleged "prediction" coded in the text of the Bible, which is also attributed to Rabbi Chaim Michael Dov Weissmandl (who was mentioned above) [54], concerns the hanging of 10 Nazi leaders on 16 October 1946 following the Nuremberg Trials. Rabbi Weissmandl claimed that this event was predicted by the Biblical story about the hanging of the 10 sons of Haman, also as a final consequence of a (failed) genocidal plan against the Jews. The "coded" aspect of his speculation is that in the Masoretic text of the Bible, three letters within the list of Haman's sons are marked as small letters:[55] the tav ת of Parshandatha, the shin ש of Parmashtha and the zayin ז of Vajezatha. Rabbi Weissmandl pointed out that if you combine the three small letters together they form the word תשז, which in the accepted Hebrew notation for year numbers (using Gimatria) corresponds to the Jewish year [5]707 Anno Mundi, [56] which is the Jewish year that the 10 Nazi leaders were executed (October 16, 1946 corresponds to Tishrei 21, 5707).[57] Many people criticize various aspects of this speculation.[58][59][60][61][62][63] They point out that there are several different traditions about what are the small letters in the names of Haman's sons. Also they point out that the proponents only mention the similarities between the cases, but ignore the many differences. More in general they point out that this is not exactly an a priori prediction, but rather a postdiction, and therefore the statistical significance of it, if there is any at all, cannot be reliably calculated.

Not exactly. What they found in Moby Dick was one or 2 words encoded on the same page. The Bible codes were much more complex.

That being said, I think the Bible code should be filed under "unusual coincidence".

Agree 100%. I believe in almost nothing when it comes to things like this. However, it is interesting. More than that many intelligent and educated people give this thing some credibility. If you watch the show you don't find a bunch of nut cases talking about it, many have advanced degrees and have studied this thing for years.

Now, as a previous thread mentioned, if they ever predict a future event and hit it on the button then I will look into it with more of an opened mind. I doubt that will happen, but a small part of me wishes that it would.
