You need to visit Europe and see they are multi-billion dollar business occupying several floors in high rises with hundreds of employees. They are not like Costa Rica books who are located in shanty towns with a fold up desk and chairs for customer service one TV and two computers with one server.

The US is more concerned with "capital flight", with respect to gambling. I believe this is due to the dense concentration of wealth. The policy makers(supported by the wealthy) have an "obligation" to keep the green inside the country.

Sad but all of that is true, European gambling market is eons ahead, the day you see a sportsbook sponsoring a NFL team or any major sports league team, then maybe we will start to play in similar turf.

Or he needs to visit Australia where the book owns the highrise and actually leases out an entire floor to a syndicate which happens to be run by the Aussie the newspapers called the biggest gambler in the world.

JJ, you need to get out of Jersey and actually make a trip to a country that knows what it's doing when it comes to gambling. Maybe then you'll understand why so many of us who are fortunate enough to be able to gamble with these books laugh when they see a book owner pop up in someone's chat transcript or even worse, on the forum itself. To some on the forum that may seem like great customer service: "Wow, the book owner actually cares enough to talk to me!!" To others, it merely indicates what small fish these offshore books actually are and highlights why the problems people have dealing with these books that you often see posted on the forum just don't seem to be worth the hassle for us at all.

It also helps put into perspective how truly insignificant Americans are to global gambling in general, despite what Americans themselves may think when they're bitching about why overseas books don't even bother to cater to US customers. Sure, extra profit would be nice but they don't need to put up with the grief when they're doing just fine as they are now without them. And at the end of the day, any American who really wanted to can find a way to get an account at a Euro/Aussie/Asian book with some effort and creativity anyway.

This live pricing has to be automated, no way they are watching all these games lives.

I will never forget when Lou posted the pictures of a book he visited in CR. I forgot the name but the pictures showed a house with a yard and it was one "office" with 4 walls and nothing on them two folded tables and chairs and 3 computers with 2 guys watching the monitors one small TV in the corner and then a customer service folded table with one phone and something that resembled a fax machine from the 80's. And I believe this book had a B+ or better rating.

You have to be insane to send money offshore and gamble with a Mickey Mouse operation like this.

If you bet usa sports and live in America you must use offshore books because of juice mainly and availability of Americanized lines

Now if you bet live in running stuff no matter what sport, soccer, tennis, horses etc Euro books are king

Try watching one weekend the ESPN feed from England, during commercial breaks during the NFL they are taking about the spread, totals, and handicapping the late games. It's just out there like it's accepted that people watching are betting on it. Unlike the US where it has negative mindset and Al Michaels has to slip shit in.

Maybe it's better that gambling is more 'hush hush' and a little taboo in America. I think it adds to the prestige of betting, like a novelty to be savored. This is why Vegas is so huge; it is an Oasis for the degenerates in us; it's prestigious because it's detached from everyday life and considered risque, which makes it more appealing.

If it's shoved in our face everyday, like you say in Europe, I think we start to take it for granted and is loses its luster.

Its pretty tough to believe in the integrity of any games in europe when the player are wearing shirts with bookmakers names on them.
