Not necessarily true. Soccer was never big and never will be. It has nothing to do with advertising. It wasn't big back before the big media and what not. There are other ways to get advertising dollars with on screen ad's, jersey ad's, etc

It is is ridiculous and is a big reason why I don't watch much pro football. When the NFL changed the rules to shorten the game, I never understood why there wasn't much backlash from fans. All it did was add even more commercials.
