Al Harris isn't that short but he's slender and isn't that tall. The Packers a few years back had a 1st round midget cornerback by the name of Terrel Buckley that lost some playoff games for them when he was picked on.He had a long journeyman career where he did ok against short receivers but could never win games where he was up against tall receivers.I think he ended his career in Miami not too long ago.

The point to the story is,when are coaches going to wise up and start getting some tall cornerbacks and safetys? At least have one on the bench that's 6'4'' or so that you can install now and then when the team you are playing against has a tall receiver like Burress for the Giants. Is Toomer pretty tall?

I will look at the Patriots roster but I think they have Harris sized defenders too.If that's the case,I think Burress might do some damage against them in the Super Bowl. I'm not sure if he was 100% healthy when they played them a few weeks back?

If I was starting an expansion NFL team,I would draft big and tall receivers and defenders. All the speed in the world is useless when you are a midget trying to outjump a tree that can jump higher than you.

Anyone remember Harold Carmichael the receiver for the Eagles who was a giant and how he made defenders look like munchkins?

I think NFL coaches are living in the politically correct world where all short people have them convinced that there's nothing to say that short people all aren't Spud Webb's.

I think it depends. Seen smaller corners cover bigger guys very well, it's a size mismatch to the naked eye for sure, but smaller corners are used to covering bigger guys, and if they're working their hands and can jump, move around better they can negate the edge. Obviously against an extremely talented tall receiver, there can be problems, and that was the case last night.
