I was in Las Vegas last week and I placed a $2,500 bet on a baseball game. It was the Dodgers vs. the Giants and the line was Dodgers -135. When I placed the bet the cashier had to get a key approval and the manager comes over stares at the screen, stares at me and says o.k. When I sit down and look at the board the line immediately moved to -145. I go to a few other Harrah's properties and the line was -145 at all of them.
My question is : Did the line move because of a $2,500 bet or was it pure coincidence? I had this happen one time before with the same results. I would think that a bet like that would be pretty common in Las Vegas. I assumed there were always bets much larger coming in all the time. For all the glitz and glamour of Vegas, do their sportsbooks mainly consist of parlays and $20-$100 bets?
