check out this pick 4 at los al
i hit the late pick 4 at los al tonight( had it twice) and it paid 7900.. for a buck

    here are the prices

    race 7- 9.00
    race 8- 23.00
    race 9- 3.60
race 10- 84.00 (bought the race)

so a dollar pays 7900$ for a dollar.. compare this to two amazing things

the early pick 4 pays 14k

    with a 20, 5, 5 and 25 dollar horse.. UNREAL

NOW CHECK OUT THE LATE PICK 3

races 8-10 ... it pays almost 10,000... WTF

    im getting screwed again

    My two questions would be

    1) How many horses were in the first race where the 7-2 shot won, and were their many logical contenders?

    2) 4-5 favs are singled far more than 3-2 favs. Was their a legitimate secondary horse in this race that others could have played?

Saying this tho, there is nothing more painful than hitting 4 and getting paid less than hitting 3. It definately looks like you got the short end of the stick on the payout relative to the pick 3! The pick 3 was clearly an overlay. So i'm just wondering if the pick 4 paid what is should have, yet the pick 3 just happenned to get all wacky!

      1) 5 horses.. he was the 4th choice in the race actually
      2) there was a handful of 5-1's or so.. i think he was a 7-2 ML
      3) after a bit more work... there were only 5 tickets that won... i had 2 of them.. so I messed up the price quite a bit.. there was 50k in the pool.. but they take at least 25%

The fact you had it twice definately skewed the price downward, but obviously gave you more $$$$ in the end. Either way, hitting an 8k pick 4 twice is very nice work. Well done.

Had a decent night last night. At Maywood I was screwing around and put 50/50 on an 11/1 shot but by the time the race went off he was 30/1 and he had like a 10 length lead and nearly blew it but I got it. Too bad my 2nd horse got 3rd else it woulda been a nice tri. ahh well.

            mavs,

You should have played the late pick 3 also, I play at Los Al sometimes and I think there is more money in the pools with the pick 4 and some of these people probably put all at the end of the ticket to hit it. I wouldn't complain about that much though, you had a really good night anyways.

This is the 3rd time you have posted how you have been screwed. If you had a clue on how pari-mutuals worked you might understand the payouts. In reality they have nothing to do with the odds of the horses but the amount of money in the pools and the amount of winning picks.

A veteran track person would have have played the pick 3 in the same sequence of his pick 4 to cover himself. Lets say if you had done that and only played one pick 4 the pick 4 would have payed more than the pick 3. Comparing it to the early pick 4 makes no sense.

Anybody that places a $3000 bet on a total with a bookie and then later agrees to change the line you got makes no sense.
For someone that bets as much as you do it would be wise to learn some basics about gambling instead of running around saying I was screwed.

Pari-mutual wagering is the hardest form of gambling to beat in the first place as the take out kills any edge one may have.

Not trying to be an ass but learn more about what you are investing in then always complaining about your wins.
