#37I'll never understand why some of you are so high on Kaman. Putting him ahead of Bosh, J-Howard or Melo (even though I dislike Melo's game) is ridiculous. Don't be fooled by Kaman's numbers this season. His success can solely be attributed to Elton Brand's absence and, as a result, Kaman becoming the No. 1 offensive option on a terrible team. Someone has to score for the Clips, and Kaman's benefited from getting 14+ shots per game. Despite this, he's shooting 47% from the field, 17th among centers, and down from his career 48% clip. Kaman's nothing more than a good, serviceable big. He'll go back to being your typical 12/8 guy who isn't much of a defensive presence when Brand comes back. If he wasn't already signed long-term, I'm sure the Knicks would be lining up to overpay for him.Comment -

#3814 rebounds and 3 blocks just because Brand is out? They do not play a fast pace either, so those numbers really are more impressive than Dwight Howard or Marcus Camby.Comment -

#39Kaman had problems psychology in his head, there was a special on him the other night, he feels much better and he has way too many skills offensively to be considered an average big man. He is a very nice player imo. He finally has figured some things out and is the real deal. For taking wayyyy more shots and only being down 1% from his career marks is a good sign and not a bad sign... more shots and opportunities should = -5% or so...Comment -

if he doesnt end up with a future in the league, he could always fall back on a modeling career.Comment -

#43Yes, absolutely it's a result of Brand being out. And numbers don't mean anything. Jamal Crawford's averaging 20 ppg. Does that make him one of the better players in the league? Of course not.
In the case of Kaman, he's just not an impact player, and a 3rd or 4th option on a championship-caliber team.
47% from a 7-ft. center is not good. Not ever.Comment -

UMMMM, he doesnt just dunk or layup the ball, he takes some outside shots also... Im guessing you havent seen the Clippers play this year. Kaman is a totally different player this yearComment -

#45Great, he can step out and hit an 18-footer. We really need more bigs like that in the league. Why is he a "totally different player?" Because his numbers are better and he has more responsibility offensively? It certainly hasn't translated into more Ws for the Clips. Kaman's a good player... just nothing special.Comment -

#46You can't compare volume shooting to put up points to putting up rebounds and blocks in the NBA. The only players in NBA history who topped Kaman's current averages in points, rebounds and blocks in a season are Olajuwon, Jabbar, and O'NealComment -

correction Bill Walton did it his MVP season, Jabbar did it 3 times and Hakeem and O'neal once. Of course blocks have only been counted since '73. I would think Jabbar did it at least 3 more times and Chamberlain at least 10 times, and Russell twice.
Looking at stats I am surprised Bil Russell only shot 44% for his career, that is not very good.Comment -
