New to Sports Betting Advice Needed...
I am new to putting down real money but have followed this for a long time. I have already taken a lot of good advice just looking at these forums. What is the best way to start my bankroll (small compared to the #s I read on here) going in the right direction. I would really like to make some serious money, its a lot of fun so far, but I really want to take this as a serious hobby.

Don't bet more than you can afford to lose.

As someone just starting out himself, the best advice I've gotten so far is:

      - Start by flat-betting. It's not necessarily the flat-betting in itself that makes it an attraction, it's that flat-betting when you're just learning goes much easier with other proper bankroll management tactics
      - Stick to what you know best. Don't overextend yourself and simply play games because they're on TV, or because you need a bet for the night.
      - Don't follow other peoples plays until you're comfortable with them

It's all really just common sense and basics though. Proper bankroll management is tough because everything about us makes us want to against it, but just keep things in control. Be moderate and modest. Don't impulse bet, don't bet on pure instincts, don't kick yourself for not betting more when a wager turns out be an easy winner, don't double up after a loss etc..

Those are all the hardest parts when you're starting out, atleast for most.

After that, it's just concentrating on hitting a good percent, and that's not really something anyone can give advice on, because not many can actually do it. Look around the nets for systems and stats, watch a lot of games, and combine all your resources to make what you feel are the best decisions.

Don't listen to 2Pac, he clearly doesn't know the simplest rule of them all: If gambling does indeed ruin your life, just combine it with alcohol and all your problems will melt away.

If you feel really good about a game, bet your entire balance on it.

Start with $500 and bet straight bets $25 per game and see how you do.

                            - Use a book that is graded B+ or higher

                            - Make sure that if you win .. you will get your money back

                            - Like JJ said do small bets and see how u do

ya good starting point and if you happen to lose and find yourself at $100...stop smack yourself in the face, walk, run, or even fly your ass as far away from a sportsbook, casino, or any form of gambling and be happy...then say to yourself you only lost 400 dollars and thats the end of it....or you could just totally disregard my advice and deposit again...totally up to u

Ive been doing this for about 10 years.....my take is...you'll get these so called "sharps" telling you the way to go is straight bets only...maybe playing a few straight bets a night

but IMO if you are betting and only getting even money.....its not worth the gamble....because you need to bet more to win more....so my motto is bet less and look for odds....such as parlays

I mean if you are losing years off your life watching these games just for even money....you might as well go play blackjack....its a much quicker death then going bald for even money...oh wait....you dont even get even money on a straight bet....because of the juice
