Poker players - should this be punished....
Ok, so I'm playing in a $10 online sit n go with four players remaining. Two players in the pot, K, 3, 10 on the flop, raising etc etc, the next two cards are both 10s. One player bets very heavily.

Whilst the clock is winding down for the other player to make his decision, the player that IS NOT playing says, 'he's bluffing, I folded a 10', so the guy calls and wins with three kings.

Now, the player may have called anyway regardless if anything was said or not. The player that said he had a 10 may not have but either way, imo, that player should be banned or something because it's interfering with the game either way.

I'm sure it's against the rules but can anything be done about it?

    What do you guys think?

chat ban is about only thing a bigger site would do, and that's only if it was reported

It should be punished by taking him out back and beating his ass.

If it was online, you should report it to the site for collusion. If it was FullTilt, they take it pretty seriously, and I have seen them redistribute the prize pool because of collusion.

I suppose it's something but lets say, you're in a real life major tournament and the scenario above occurs, would the player in question be banned or I wonder what would happen?

need to report him to get his chat removed, but they will not do anything retrospectively.

If it was a bigger buy in live tourney, he would get a penalty for a few rounds at the table, or a certain amount of time

I was thinking along the lines of collusion, but the player was probably just trying to mess up the hand in some way but to me, it's cheating.

depending on the site and if there is history between the players the consequences vary greatly. it's most likely just some idiot that doesn't know better and would get off with a warning.

                          step 3: profit

Yeah, probably the same idiot that likes to take 14 seconds every single decision he has to make or when he's folding, decides to let the clock wind down rather than just click fold.

It annoyed me and I wasn't even involved in the hand. I told the player to report him, I copied the table number so I may just report him.

In the end, it didn't matter anyway because I came second and the guy that lost out with the 10s or tried to bluff with the 10s, won but that still should not take away from what the player did.

In live poker this is a huge no no, but obv until they ban his chat you can't do much. Internet poker is the wild west in that way.
