Some of the football announcers just lack a lot of common sense and general understanding of the game. For example, Musburger was calling the UNC game yesterday and the punter got absolutely destroyed and he said something like "Let's see if it's a 5 yarder or 15 yarder" and Herbstreit tried to nicely point out that the punter got leveled and it should be a 15 yarder...I often see announcers not understand parts of the game that only a casual fan would miss - for example - when teams line up to go for it on their own 30 on 4th & 4 for the sole purpose of trying to draw the other team offsides and the announcer says "I can't believe they are going for it..." then the team simply calls the time out. This is just very annoying to me, I really appreciate a good announcer.

#3Perfect example...ECU/Tulsa game...score is 23-24 with 7min left in 3Q (VERY HIGH SCORING) and the announcer says that the game isn't as high scoring as some fans may have expected. What in the hell does he want, a 100 pt game?Comment -

#5Completley agree.
Disagree on Musberger, I like him. Yes, on the replay he did get absolutley destroyed (the punter) but watching it live it was hard to tell if it was a flop or if he really got him.
Gus Johnson is by far the greatest. Al Michaels is solid. ESPN's afternoon college announcers are ok too.Comment -

#6Another stupid call:
Announcer in ECU/Tulsa game says ECU wins by 2 because ECU scored with no time remaining, not realizing that they still have to attempt an extra point.Originally posted by Dark HorseIf with religion you mean belief system, your belief system is your religion. Again, it matters not what it is. You believe in it, you are loyal to it, would defend it, and yet have no proof of it, other than that, at one point or another, you chose to believe in it. Self-hypnosis. What if there were a snapping of fingers that broke the hypnosis?Comment -

#8Yeah, most ref's don't really understand the rules. You see a lot of poor calls that are the result of a lack of understanding of the rules.Comment
