XOM still a buy under 60. I sold off some SPY and a few covered calls but still think we are headed back to the 107-111 range.

Crude Oil Oct 10(NY Mercantile: CLV10.NYM)
Last Trade: 73.02
Trade Time: 9:38AM EDT
Change: 1.10 (1.53%
With the market so heavily weighted with oil, this is the number to watch. Correlate USO and SPY on a chart for further proof. Yesterday's rally petered out when crude tanked. The crude rally started in Asia, took a breather in Europe and fired up strong in the US. Good chance that pattern can go another day or two.

BP is a buy but of course it could be a while before it regains its true value. I like XOM more because their dividend is completely save and earnings next year look to be very strong.
VLO is headquatered here in my home town. I've owned it many times but not currently. Its a great buy but as the latest downturn showed it is really hit hard when gasoline sales slow. Still, a very well run company that is dirt cheap. I bought their bonds which fell from the A's to BBB's. You probably know there will be no new refinerys built maybe ever with the new regulations. VLO has a strangle hold on that market as well as refinning dirty crude so put them shares under your pillow.

I got some MA and luckily had some aggressive covered calls because its been very weak. But a great company, possibly one of the best picks on the board long term.

Will go down after Labor Day. And the day to buy stocks is not the day they climb big. It's the day before.

I bought Exxon back in like 1981, just a 1000 shares at $8 and change, with all the 2-1 and 2-3 splits and re-investing all the dividends over 30 years Ive done very well, and have not sold a share yet.

You are a smart man. I can't even begin to imagine how much money I would be worth if I just bought, and never sold.

Looks like a higher open with the pre market up but with oil trading off .60 this looks to me like an opening bell rally only and then some back and fill action to digest yesterdays gains.
