I know It's fairly common in poker but I haven't heard of it in sports. Anyone on this site a millionaire from sports? or know someone. If you are the person but dont want to to say, just say you know someone. Would just be interesting to know if there are.

#11i guess it kind of depends on whether or not they hold their money.
Theres probably over a 100, 1+mil payouts in poker tournaments through out one given year. Also some very, very high stakes cash games running at all times.......I'd imagine pros playing in $100/$200 and up games are often millionaires. (and probably sometimes as low as 25/50) if they have tighter bankroll restrictions.Comment -

#20The poker 'millionaires' are misleading definitely. Say one guy wins $2mil in a tourney. He's got to pay the taxes....then he's got entry fees to all the other circuit tourneys...travel expense..as well as living necessities. The money goes reaaalllly fast. Even most of the 'sponsored' players who are staked have to pay back funds etc.Comment -

Always thought this was the biggest misconception with professional poker players. You go to any poker site and it lists the career earnings of each player as if he made 120k or something last year and that was a great thing. With all the hidden costs involved one needs to make quite a bit more then that just too breakeven but no one seems to ever talk about this.Comment -

If your referring to traveling to different live tournaments then of course there are a ton of expenses.
Still there is probably a little over a thousand players who've made 1mil+ at poker.Comment -
