No matter what kind of Gambler you are, if you want to stick around longer than Jamarcus Russell you have to develop a killer instinct. Obviously, discipline is probably the most important trait a person can have, but if you dont have a killer instinct as a gambler this shit will chew you up and spit you out.
If I was walking behind you on the streets and you dropped your wallet, Id flag you down and give it back to you, regardless of how many hundreds were in it. But if I ever see you on a poker table Im gonna try to rape you of every penny you have, doesnt matter how many times you try to buy me a drink or ask me how my day was. I was once a nieve little "hustler" that thought everyone was just happy and friendly because they too were out gambling. Sure, the weekenders were, but the true hustlers were just being nice to me for a different reason. Whether it was to get a $100 loan or a free look at the river, they were being "nice" for a reason. I had to "teach" myself to become somewhat of an asshole and it wasn't easy.. It goes against everything I am as a person but Ive realized it is very important if I want to survive. And thats the key, surviving until it's my time.
The moral of the story is that everyone is trying to fukk somebody over in this business.. It's just the way it is, somebody has to be the mark. Thats why you have to realize that no one you meet in this industry is really your "friend". The guys with the most friends are usually the guys with the lightest pockets..
Let me know if any of you guys at the bash see JJGold show up to see his "friends"..
