#2whatever motivated you to go to law school. do you really want to be a lawyer when there is a glut of unemployed lawyers running around trying to sue 25 people at once on defaulted credit cards in a crazy ass courtroom. or if you're lucky you can work in a collection floor of some fly by night law firm whose only business is buying charged off unsecured loans and trying to intimidate unemployed shmucks into paying something. get a real job doing something productive. what a fool to pay all that money to some phoney law school.Comment -

#5Wouldn't surprise me if it's true. Law School (and college in general) has been marketed to the younger generation for years as the golden ticket to success in life. Many people my age are in for a rude awakening. And you can take it to the bank that the next big financial crisis America will face will be kids walking away from their crazy student loans they took out to finance school.Originally posted by sundin4prezgood luck...... i have heard a stat that there are more kids graduating with a law degree in america then there are practicing law....Comment -

#6yes sir.... thankfully in canada uni. tuition isent that much compared to you guys down south but just among my 10 friends of mine 6 of them are going to be in massive student debt (around 35-50k debt not including grad school).. and its goign to take years to pay off because what type of job is a kid right out of school going to get with a political science, sociology, fine arts, theater or a television and broadcasting going to get that allows 50k of debt repayment...Originally posted by SaviorTebow

#7Which law school are you at? Will you be at the Bash? This article was in the USA Today a few days ago:Originally posted by infamousbacardiIs anyone here currently IN Law School?? I just started, so I'm just curious.
My advice: If you really want to be a lawyer, then do it. If your motivation is money, Prestige, recognition, etc. then quit right now.Comment -

Great chance you will be working for KMART or Shop Rite as a fukkin clerk unless your father owns a big lkaw firm,
Law is a bad field to get into now, law schools take anyone now as long as you can pay.Comment -

#16Higher education is a business. It is marketed as such and a sucker's bet.
Here's what you do instead, kokphuck! Go phuck nine black chicks until each is pregnant with your baby. They will all end up on welfare and draw government (sucker a/k/a law school graduate taxpayer's) funding. You will secretly marry 4 of the 9 (each one of the 4 under a different alias).
Once this step is complete, PM me for next steps.Comment -

#21Lawyers are very smart, trustworthy people who are genetically superior to all of us and who charge a modest fee in comparison to the services they provide. I have a signed poster of Johnny Cochran objecting to a "motion to strike" by Marcia Clark in the OJ trial. It's still hanging on my wall in it's glass case after all these years.Comment -

#22Remember...if you want to be a lawyer you can't really have a conscience, you've got to be able to step on your own mothers throat for a buck, and accept you're in the bottom 3 of most disrespected professions in America. If you can do these things you'll be a solid lawyer.Comment -

#23Haha...you guys made my day. Too funny. It is comical how many people out there are so quick to degrade anyone who wants to be a lawyer...but are so quick to open their mouths when they need a good one because they made a bad decision (not even talking about the fact that is merely a small sector of the law, that is just what you hear about if you know nothing about the law)...and what's more? The naivety it takes to assume anyone and everyone who is in law school is going to be a lawyer.
I will say though, one thing law school does do for you, it teaches you, in most situations, to become educated of a situation before you open your mouth. Some of you should try it.
I'm not going to sit here and say that everyone should go to law school, and that it's a great idea. They shouldn't, and it isn't. However, like most situations, it is what you make of it.
You guys who are trashing lawyers and the field in general, do realize that, you are making a bigger than Oprah fallacy in that you are taking the actions of a few, and transposing that to your beliefs of many. You may do as you wish, but you are also free to be wrong, as you wish. Odds are, I may not even practice law, but I'll know I did all I could to create the best life possible for not only me, but those who I'm lucky enough to call my family as well. Half of you are probably in your mom's basements right now and aren't even old enough to get your undergrad degree, let alone think about law school...and the other half of you are probably upset because you made a stupid decision and a lawyer made you pay for it. Imagine if you had a good lawyer in that situation? Instead of the dumb ass public defender you could only afford. Maybe you'd have a different opinion, or maybe you'd choose to see the facts and still make ignorant reductive comments. Then again, I guess that's the cost of doing business, isn't it degenerates??Comment -

We got fukkin lawyers here scratching their fukkin heads on where they went wrong

#25JJ, with all due respect, it would be naive to assume that not only are there no opportunities in the legal field, but also to assume that everyone who goes to law school will then subsequently join the legal field as a practicing attorney.Originally posted by jjgoldBruce watch your comments at me We got fukkin lawyers here scratching their fukkin heads on where they went wrong Many not even working, some working in iron shops, some working at gas stations, some clerking for $19,000 a year, etc Its not a great field anymore, way too over crowdedComment -
