this is not intended as a defense for the bookmakers but:: it is obvious that many of the problems we read about as far as books not wanting to pay players is concerning bonus whores making a deposit and then betting all of their roll on one play.

my question is this: how does this affect the players that don't do this?

Most players that do this are purposely trying to lose at the book that gave the bonus anyway. (Betting the other side at another book). Makes no difference if its one lump sum wager or broken down into smaller bets.

Books use the bonuses to entice players to signup or redoposit at their book. If players are worried about the rollovem then they shouldn't accept the bonus.

yeah i completely understand the theory of how the bonus whore makes his profit. when the player wins though, the book decides they don't wanna pay the whore for taking a shot. does this have any affect on the rest of us ?

nonsense...if the book doesn't want to honor a bonus....don't offer it in the first place.
