Ok well some are gonna look at this post and laugh, others will actually give me honest insight. Well let me first say by no means am I trying to be like all those crooked touts in Vegas. By no means am I also trying to manipulate a situation or try and be cocky and modest by assuring all games as locks. I Keep to myself and am very content. The thing I hate most about touts is there cocky assholes and talk way to much. They all for the most part are jerks and try and make a mockery of the client. They have every wrong intention possible and train reps to call and suck all and every dime out of you. I want to start up an honest and respected service. Its a passion of mine I've always had and want to try. Like I said I want to do it the right why, I would bet the same games as I preach, give honest opinions and insight, and not try to dig into your pockets. Basically I wanna run this the opposite of all the tout services in Vegas. The question I have for you guys is, I'm working on a limited budget and do not have the man power or bankroll to run a professional tout service. I believe though to start at least, all you need is a phone, moneygram/western union, a passion and dedication to sports with a will to make long term profit. I was looking at where I could advertise cheaply and what would be a good way to start up a small customer base. I've recently thought of posting in one of the sections of craigslist. I also heard it is possible to advertise in local newspapers if written the proper way. For now I would like any good and honest insight on what can be done to do this. Thanks guys.

#2oh, so your taking the honest approach, i don't think no one has thought of that.
trying to jump in a ocean full of a gazillion touts has never been done. First off, it takes money to make money, if your saying you bet what you tell your (hopeful)clients to bet also, then if you think you are good enough that someone should follow you, you should have money to get a simple website going and i'm pretty sure every book has an affiliate program, you just sign up and post their banners or links on your site to generate revenue.
just start a thread here, just for a month, post your daily plays, you can rate them by stars, units, goats, or cow-dung patties, whatever it is you like. just post for a month and i'm confident you'll get some feedback from this forum.Comment

#5Create a simple website. Post all your picks prior to game start. Also post the picks in a forum where real bettors go, like theRX, there are several. Start only one thread per sport and put all your picks in that thread and keep a year to date record and post the year to date record every day. This way people can verify that you actually made your picks prior to game start. On your website keep all your picks so that any of your readers can validate your year to date record. Open accounts at all the forums where people talk about sportsbetting. Give out one solid free pick every day. Put a link back to your website in the pick. Try to use a screen name that is also in your website name. This way searches in google will return your posts then people can get to your website. Buy a book on SEO (search engine optimization) and keep doing things that return your site in searches on words like "sportsbetting" "handicapping", etc. LOTS of people look for good handicappers. If you are as good as you say you are and you bet your own picks then use your profits to buy advertising on websites that discuss sportsbetting. Ask your local newspaper if you can write a weekly or daily column on sports picks. Most local newspapers are hungry for good content. There is a poster on here, sportsgirl, who writes a column for her local newspaper.Originally posted by rmcajOk well some are gonna look at this post and laugh, others will actually give me honest insight. Craigslist can't hurt as its free, but I doubt you will get much out of it.

#6If you`re that good at picking games and you back them yourself and make a good profit, then why the need to sell them.?
While i don`t doubt your intentions to provide an honest service, this just smacks of pure greed on your behalf and as such you won`t give a toss if your picks win or not as long as you keep making money.
 Just my opinion.Comment

#7Curios thank you for your ideas and ways I can optimize my clients. I have an trustful and respected person who is willing to bank this 100% He is already an established President of a sports marketing company who has run a successful corperation and is running one today. He has given me the green light to use any resource I need from him in order to establish the start of this. We are building a website within the next days and will have something up and running within the coming weeks. I will also take your advice on now consistently posting my picks, keeping accurate and reliable histories of all plays and profits accumulated. Like I said before I am not the Mesiah of sports betting, and do not believe in telling people I have a "lock" or "game of the year" That is foolish thinking and can put your bankroll in serious jeopardy. Sports betting is a lot more then the quick hit. I believe in sustainability and betting in the right enviorment. I hope I can maybe take the serious people out of this forum and show them (when it is created) what I can do and that this is a serious endeavor. Time builds trust and I have made the deal to contribute myself in the long run in order to yield the highest profit.

#9Vanman I have no intentions or thoughts of greed at all. If I'm so good why not bet my own games? If I have a way to create people money while creating an extra source of income why not? I will never stop betting my own games. That is one thing that will never change. The only way to make this work is to bet with your clients. If you don't have anything on the line with the game your selling then how is anyone sopposed to believe you are on the right side of a game. For that I will never ever stop betting what I tell people. Betting is about making money and If I can make it for others and myself, then why not.Originally posted by vanmanIf you`re that good at picking games and you back them yourself and make a good profit, then why the need to sell them.?

#12There are quite a few serious people here, most are making money while being very quiet about it.

One bit of advice as an add looking for people to follow you should at least have no spelling or grammer mistakes. It's right not write place.

As others have said, doing the BS part will take away from the capping. You could always follow the Dr. Bob model (he's the only honest tout in my opinion) and set up a web site, give away your picks for a while, then slowly charge people for them. He seems to have done quite well.

#13I am not that great with grammar, however can catch most mistakes. The one you listed above for whatever reason passed me by. I always try to edit what I write before I post it. With that being said I am not looking to over indulge in all the other aspects of starting this. It will be a simple and to the point website. Like I said before this is about winning, but a good presentation is a must. You must be able to trust who is giving you your picks. They will trust you a lot less if you look unprofessional or sloppy.Originally posted by 20Four7There are quite a few serious people here, most are making money while being very quiet about it.

#14I would recommend that you find a friend who can proof read you web site content. If you have spelling and grammar errors, you will look unprofessional. I write a fair amount of original content for publications. I proof many times before the articles I write are published. I remember one time when I wrote an article and it was proofed by seven different people and there was still an error. Good luck.Originally posted by rmcajI am not that great with grammar, however can catch most mistakes. The one you listed above for whatever reason passed me by. #16I am not a big Hockey bettor but, hoops College and Pro are wagered. You can start out by checking out my play on Harvard +4, buying .5 a pt in the College Basketball forum. If you are interested in my NFL and College Football plays today, Cowboys +10 and Alabama -3 are the plays there. In both games points were bought. Added an extra pt in the Cowboys game and an extra point in our favor with Alabama. On the grammar note when the site is done we will have someone who daily will checks the grammar of all writings and articles.Originally posted by greeki wanna see how good you are in hockey and hoops for a monthComment

#18I answered that already JJ. Let me ask you this. If I won consistently and you were able to make money off of it would you be questioning something like $100 a month. Why do people pay stock brokers? They pay them to make them money. This is no different. I think the saying, "If your so good why not just bet the games yourself," Is one of the most over used and mislead statements.Originally posted by jjgoldForget it

#21This is an interesting topic. I was wondering the same thing about the guy who has been giving me my Beat The Prick picks and thinking he should be making extra money selling his picks. It has been unbelievable how the picks keep coming through. Not just the picks he was giving me for the contest but other picks too.Comment
