I agree man. Especially for Stand Up and SNL was great during that period. I don't mean any disrespect to Dice by the video. I thought he was funny as hell the first time that I saw him. By the way, I like Seinfeld too(his stand up sucks though) but I love it when Comics imitate other comics. Even when it's 2 comics that I like!

That's where you lost me, JohnGalt. Family Guy cannot even dream of holding the Simpsons' jock in terms of cleverness, ingenuity, and overall brilliance.

Family Guy comedy is just easy comedy -- you or I could write a Family Guy episode. The Simpsons writers (though maybe not as much anymore) are a total cut above, with what they were able to do.

By the way, I saw Gottfried do his Diceman bit live in Boston way way back in the day when Diceman was still current! I remember that I could not even take in air I was laughing so hard! The way he just doesn't even bother ending the sentences always killed me!!!!!!

There were times when I would watch them and I would think that they were absolutely brilliant but most of the time I thought they were pretty mediocre. They were definitely groundbreaking though. Without the Simpson's there probably would have never been shows like Family Guy, South Park, Beavis + Butthead, King of the Hill, Daria, among many others. I wish a channel would bring back Mr. Peabody and Sherman. I think that's my favorite old school cartoon.

True, there have been MANY great animated shows... some are in my all-time favorite TV shows.

I think I tried to come up with a Personal Top-10 TV shows of all time list not long ago, and I had The Simpsons and South Park both in it.
