    Opinions on Dish Network
Hey everyone. I use to have time warner cable and my bill per month was $70 or so was cable tv with 70 something channels. I live in NYC and now just have basic cable. Pay around $17 a month for it for the basic channels which means no TNT or ESPN.

I see on tv they have commercials and even online for dish network for $24.99/month for the first 12 months. Can someone tell me how much it REALLY costs when you add in the taxes and fees? I do not need those things where you can record a show or pause live tv or anything like that. I also have an old tv but plan to buy a brand new flat screen tv that is 40'. But i can still have dish network on an old tv that is not flat correct?

I see on the website that local channels are free as well. I want to have dish network on my 1 television but maybe 2 and i know you have to pay some extra money for that as well. I don't need HBO, showtime, or those sports packages but want TNT and ESPN to watch the NBA games and the NFL Monday Night Football games.

Can someone who have dish network tell me their experience with it? Do i need to pay for HD as well? What about Direct TV? I heard they have a 29.99/month for the first 12 months or 24 months but i'm pretty sure direct tv cost more than dish network correct? I don't want to pay $75 a month for cable with time warner cable.

Fvck em. I'm stuck cuz they have the international channels which my wife likes but way expensive.

$10 extra for the HD channels.

      $5 for dvr/month

      $5 for every reciever/month

      $35/month for 2 international channels.

$90 service fee if u have tech prob which they can't fix thru troubleshoot over the phone. (yup, they charge even if weather fvcked it up or them to come fix it)

then u have to get the package which 200 channels cost another $65.

Hey paco i am checking their website. The plan i am talking about is the 120 channel plan for 24.99/month. I don't need any of those special things that other people need and no special channels. Just want TNT for NBA and Espn for NFL Monday Night Football and NBA games. Do you know how much it cost around?

I talked to support but i am pretty sure they are lying about the pricing.

i've had them since the end of may. no probs so far. im not a fan of their hd-dvr set up, but other then that my bill is dirt cheap cause i was "new"

also the 2 times i've called in about trivial stuff i ended up with 2 free PPV movies

It's getting to the point where I hardly ever turn the TV on anymore. I end up watching a lot of games right on my computer for free. Then I got my computer right here and can constantly check lines, insult people in the forums or instant message. Seems like the $90 a month I spend on sat TV is a waste. Even when I got big money on a game I don't watch because it's to stressful.

Good point about watching sports on computer , with todays tech it is almost the same as watching tv and lots of stuff online now.

No shit. They nickle dime the living shit out of you.

$65 for the first 200 channels which all suck except for the ESPN's and history channel.

I like the NGC channel but for some reason that's not part of the 200

I must have the Fox soccer channel and ESPU but costs me an extra $12 to get these two channels because they are in the sports pack which has like 75 channels or something. However other than FSC and ESPU, they are all worthless as every game is blacked out and part of some package. Even the shit sports like MLS you have to pay extra and for some reason all the WNBA games are not available in your area.

The $10 and $5 charges for HD and a receiver are a joke. Can you buy a receiver a best buy and just skip this monthly charge?

                        Just signed up.

45 a month including free HD for 2 years, sport package is 7 bucks. Paying 52 bucks a month for 2 years with HD. Not bad.

Dish network is the best, miles better than cable and a little better than directv. I reccomend it. Takes advantage of the deals they are offering and you should be able to get in at a reasonable price and I am pretty sure you can use any tv to veiw it.

also one thing i like, which i think direct has but not sure, is that you for dvr service you only need 1 receiver and can record 2 tv's with that 1 receiver.
