hate to say it...but sometimes the guys giving the loans are just not using their heads and are just asking for trouble. Giving loans to guys for hundreds of points when they only have a low number of posts is a train wreck in the making....some cases they're just being greedy.

it's not as simple as just not loaning to new posters.

I've only loaned to established posters, who have been around a while and have taken out loans in the past (and paid of course), and a bunch of them have stiffed as well.

The bottom line is the forum is full of degenerate scumbags, and loaning is asking for trouble, regardless of whether the poster has a credit history or not.

Only loan to SBR posters you personally have reason to trust. For me, that's a single digit number.

Nobody would lend to me coach. I don't take out the degenerate small loans so I can't build a history but I save up the points as evidenced in my balance. This is not proof enough for repayment capacity it seems. Too much stock being put into credit ratings when it's easy to finagle the system.I'm saddened when people get burned but it is of no surprise to me. Underwrite loans properly!

They're just points, but they do translate to a certain meaningful EV of sorts, especially when you get past about 2000-3000. I'd care if I were up fairly high and be choosy (to say the least) about lending.
