Comp rating for sportbook plays in vegas?
I know some sportsbooks like bellagio dont even rate sportsbook plays but i was in vegas for game 2 and 3 of nba finals in june and stayed at ceasars. Made roughly 15 to 20 straight bets at the sportsbook ranging anywhere from 350.00 to 600.00 a game. Just went online to check my account and i basically got 500 points for all those plays. Does anyone know how sportsbook plays are rated vs. casino table game plays. 500 points doesnt seem right?

It differs from place to place.

Overall, you will make very little.

If one is a 500 dollar bettor for example and plays 3-5 plays per day............one can earn more comps playing 2-3 hours of video poker.

SPORTSBOOK is not a place to score a lot of comps.

DRINK tickets and buffets will be your main staple.

Fishhead how about $100.00 a hand blackjack vs those sportsbook plays. How long play time for equal pts if you had to guess. Just curious?

Ok, say you make 14-20 sports wagers averaging $500

If you were to play one hour of BJ at $100 a pop, you would be doing much better in the comp department.

Again, every place is different.........but the main thing to consider is sports is not a place to be concentrating on comps making a significant impact on your financial well being.

Whereas with tablegames, slots, and video poker...........one can build up significant comp rewards, including mailers..............and hopefully by playing something that has a +ev return while one is attaining these comps...........which is possible with certain table games, slots, and video poker.

Thanks fishhead. Definitely dont depend on the comps for anything other than getting a better room rate. Dont use them for any meals or anything like that.

              Depends on the shop.

Caesars (Total Rewards) is stingy all around, especially blackjack. I believe ever 1100 wagered in the book gets 100 points ($1). An hour of $100 a hand blackjack probably gets $10 max. Probably more like $5. They are very stingy at blackjack for as bad as their games are.
Hilton on the other hand gives $1 comp for every $220 wagered. Never played much blackjack there so don't know about the rating of table games there.
Of course the rating in the pit all depends on what the pit boss inputs. If you tip a little in front of him and aren't a dickhead he might round your $125 wager up to $200 average in the rating system. If you're drunk and obnoxious he might forget to input your rating totally.

they don't comp much at all for sport wagers.

don't play just to get comps

they give them away for a reason.

I dont play for comps. But I like when i can get the nice tower at ceasars for 100-125 a night instead of 250-300 a night. Thats the only thing i use comps for.

I'm fortunate to have worked in the business for 9 years and many in the business today I've worked with in the past............so comps are relatively easy for me to attain at many, many joints........if I play or not.

Fact- before CAESARS was purchased by Harrahs it was 1% for sports and 2% for horses. This was before bean counters took over. Win - Walk cards were turned in every evening at the end of shift. Every player was given more than earned-Terri Lanni{sp} wanted happy customers..

Worked my way from writer to cashier......and then supervisor and oddsmaker the last five years in the business.

Discounts are really not given out in the sportsbook....or the vast majority.

One has to understand, a LV SPORTSBOOK in and by itself makes very, very, very little money after expenses..........and therefore the beancounters upstairs are really against giving away comps. What they fail to comprehend is the added business a well operated sportsbook/racebook brings to the rest of the casino in terms of profit.
