Basically a one truck thing where movers load it, drive and unload it while driving it back. We have done the whole, put it on with 5 or so others people's stuff to be moved across country in a semi before and that sucked for many reasons including it being like a 10 day or so process between them packing up and arriving with so many other stops in there.

Then we drove the U-Haul before but that involves multiple trips and can be a real mess. Would rather have each of us (wife and I) take a vehicle and drive one seperately with animals in each (her with screaming cat), me with fun loving dogs and get there 4-5 hours later, wait for movers and be done with it all in one long day.

Haven't a clue how much this is but think it's super expensive from cheking before. Figured it was easier to ask on here but I don't think many companies do this, then again anything is possibile if your willing to pay for it.

Anyone do this before or know anything about it? Thanks.

You're moving more stuff than would fit in a Uhaul box truck, after just a brief stay in SD ?

I think you can get one where you can also tow a vehicle behind it, then have wife drive the other car perhaps ?

Dude just call one of those POD companies...they drop it in your driveway, you throw your crap in it, they pick it up and deliver it to LV...problem solved.

Nice idea, but how does that work out pricewise ?

I'm trying to see how this can be efficient and yet be comparable to renting a Uhaul 15' box job or something.

Anyway you could do a price comparison on this DS ?

How about CT to LV without even an address in LV ( maybe a storage place ? )

We are moving (again) our whole lives back to LV. Yes just like we moved it out here. Nothing was left behind, nowhere to leave it as we weren't 100% sure when we were coming back but was pretty sure it was soon.

We did this on the way here and barely could fit all our stuff in a mid-size U-Haul (can't remember the size). It was a huge pain the ass and it took a professional group to pack it perfectly. You would be shocked how much shit you have and believe me we really don't have that much stuff comapred to others as we threw a lot out the first move from Michigan to LV. Believe me we are not pack rats, no kids, etc and still loaded up vehicles also. It was hard. This will shock you if and when you go to move. I still think it worked out to us having like 40 boxes and then lots of other stuff. Wife wrote it down. U-Haul has a chart to help you with what is best too rent.

With all that said I want to stay away from all that if I can. I am willing to pay a decent amount to just get there and get there quickly without making two trips so in order to do this it looks like might have to hire someone. It's a lot more expensive then one thinks. For them to load it, drive it, you pay for gas there and back, use of the truck and their time, plus them unloading it. I think its well over a grand if I am not mistaken. Just trying to get an idea but pretty sure I am not doing what we did last time, drive there and back in 2 vehicles, drop one off and drive U-Haul next day, what a mess that was. Ruins 2-3 days. Makes me sick just thinking about it.

Yeah that is what I am looking for sort of except I am not loading it. Worked at UPS for 5 years loading and unloading semi's and trucks back in the day. Those days are long gone for me. Plus have a herneiated (sp) disc and bulging disc in my back that I don't mess with it anymore, though it doesn't bother me (knock on wood) that I don't want to push my luck with either.

I'd think closer to 5 grand than 1 grand ( dime, K, etc.)

decide if you want to live in SD or LV or if you can afford to live in both places. You can't move every 6 months....unless light and single on baggage.

                  MAKE A DECISION !

I suspect you have too much furniture and stuff...ICE.

I'm looking at selling like 80% + of the crap I own while my place is now listed....wife will likely **** me out of every cent of my net worth, and I'll probably wind up jumping in front of a train ( like Superman), but that is the price of marriage.

I might make it to LV alive....probably not, though !

Getting married was the worst thing I ever did by far. I'll be there if I survive !

I go where the money is Doug. Every bit of both decision where more or less based on that single point.

You could get someone to do it around here for 500 points probably.

best of luck moving the stuff cheaply, Ice !

How did the the stuff get to SD ? Did y'all get it it there from military dudes or something ?

                          Stuff is way over-rated !.

Why would he go to TJ when he lives in C-bad? Ice, rent a large truck that can tow one of your cars, go to the corner of Tamarack and Camino Real in the morning, get however many guys you need to get it loaded in a day (probably 2), pay $10/hour, and buy them some burritos and Gatorade at lunch. Those guys generally work hard and honorably.

Drive up after 7pm so as to avoid SD and LA rush hour (you'd have to leave by noon to miss the latter at the 60/15 and 91/15).

Park, sleep, and the next morning, I don't know where you hire the off-load crew, but someone local here could find out.

That's the cheapest way to do it without making a second trip. I'd help you myself but, uh, my back hurts, yeah, that's it, my back.
