Madden and Gumbel has the potential to be the best booth team ever.

Why would you insult Madden like that?

I'm selling this. Gumbel has his own show on HBO. I don't think Gumbel would like playing second fiddle to Madden. I don't see any chemistry there.

Michaels is the best play-by-play football guy. He knows the rules, including replay, that not even Madden can understand. He understands clock management when coaches are idiots. He's also not afraid to talk about gambling/point spreads.

He had a great line during the Baltimore game. At 2:10, Ravens called a timeout. Michaels said 2-minute warning as the went to commercial. When they came back, he said "It's not the 2-minute warning. Wishful thinking on my part."

Anyone who has Directv and listens to the fools calling NFL games can attest that 90 percent kiss the NFL/teams asses each week and they don't know the rules. At least Michaels knows he has enough clout to tell it like it is most of the time.

Seattle Slew nailed it. Al Michaels is without a doubt the best play-by-play man in football, and he is a straight-shooter. Nobody comes close to Madden & Michaels.

I think he just meant he wanted the lousy game over with.

Collinsworth was bringing him down, so they're going to pair BG with Deion and Marshall on Saturday's tilt between the 49ers and the Bengals They gave the excuse of a "sore throat", but that's false.

Michaels is overrated; he's been riding out his day in the sun with the miracle on ice for way too long. Time for some new blood.

                      Time for Gumbel time.
