I'm constantly working on a system
My approach changes every few months or so as I evaluate and re-evaluate. The more I think about it the more I'm inclined to believe that if I am going to stay in the game long term and actually, get this, MAKE money, I need to bet for + money only.

Just look at the NBA last night, for example. Miami was 8.00 at the Greek and they won. Atl won in Orlando and Phi knocked off Hou like it was easy. These + money plays made serious cash for takers. Besides, if you bet the favs in those games and won you still would have to be right much more often than if you took your chances on dogs if you want to make money, particularly when you figure in the juice.

I'm hoping those of you vets out there who have loved and learned this game and have it figured out will weigh in here. Really tempted to start only looking for undervalued dogs and strategically placing bets on them. I might be done with favorites, or at least big ones, all together.

Not sure what your system is.

It sounds like you're only looking for live dogs.

If you think you have one, you should bet M/L.

If you think you have a competitive dog, but not sure they have enough to actually win the game, you can also go for higher odds by trying to middle the money line with the points (Example: If you think the Clippers will play well tonight, but may not win, you bet $75 N.J. M/L for every $50 you bet on Clippers +7. You will lose $25 if the final score lands outside of that range, and profit $75 if it falls inside the 7 point range, which effectively rewards you with around +300 if you are correct that Clippers play well and come within 7, but not well enough to win)

If you are not handicapping well enough to locate live dogs, then look for another system.

Art, You have the idea and have articulated it well. Funny you mention the LAC as that is the dog I'm liking tonight.

Others wish to weigh in? Please do so.

Best advice I can give is, if you form a system that you believe in you have got to stick with it. Fine-tuning along the way is essential, but don't overdo it. Filling in the blanks takes a good amount of time, so don't be in a hurry.

Well said Crazl. Confidence in your system in thick and thin goes a long way.

You really think you can create a system that constantly wins?

JJ, probably the best system would be a CD or savings account but as a degenerate phucking gambler I need to bet. I am going to keep looking for value plays with the dogs and see how that goes.

Thebigguy, how has your system worked out for you?

No because this is gambling after all, although if you come up with one I'm all ears. LOL!
