Trump's bet is for online tax
    By PAUL THARP

    Last Updated: 5:11 AM, July 30, 2010

Unlike casino mogul Steve Wynn, Donald Trump supports new legislation that would legalize online gambling in the US, saying the Big Apple and other cities need the tax dollars.

"Why lose all those billions of revenue?" said Trump, who built Atlantic City's three showcase casinos into that city's biggest taxpayer.

"Online gaming is going to happen, so we might as well have it work to the public's advantage."

The federal measure, approved late Wednesday night by Rep. Barney Frank's House Financial Services Committee, would let states and cities share 6 percent of the online take.

Americans spend an estimated $15 billion on unlawful online gambling. If regulated, that amount could more than triple to $50 billion, supporters say. Uncle Sam would get 2 percent.

Some casinos and American Indian tribe operators such as Foxwoods have bitterly fought the measure because they fear it will siphon away gambling business.

Trump said good casino operators have nothing to fear.

Agreed.. It sounds good in theory but the last thing we need is for the federal government to get there hands on something else. They have enough to encompass there mass incompetence.. ever heard of a budget? More money is not always the answer. Maybe if they were smarter are more frugal we wouldn't have all this BS they created.

Have you ever physically been to a DMV office
That's all you need to know why we do not want any form of Gov't involved in the online wagering industry

I agree with Trump, tax online gambling and move on. Dealing with shady sportsbooks and trying to find a way to get your money safely like your some type of money laundering pro is borderline stupid for US players. I think the Vegas casinos would have nothing to fear because they should be able to then have online sites themselves.

My son is a Marine. He's good at his job, and his fellow Marines--Federal government employees--are first rate, too. Incompetent? FU. If they were incompetent, you wouldn't be free to spew this kind of crap.

Try dealing with the typical private sector corporate idiot if you want to see real incompetence.

Like, BP and the oil spill. Yeah, REAL competent, those private sector geniuses.

It depends on what form any enacted legislation takes. In one of the bills talked about a few years ago, one of the idiots we elected thought it would be a good idea if the deposit in an offshore account was taxed, which, of course, is idiotic. That's like taxing the amount a person takes into the race track, even if they go ahead and lose it all.

What we know as offshore gaming now might look a whole lot different a few years from now.

I would rather deal with shady books than have no books to deal with at all and have to deal with sleazy street bookies. Good luck getting SBR to settle a payment dispute between you and jimmy the snake after uncle sam pushes online sports wagering out.

You are a complete idiot. I would be afraid to live in the same neighborhood as you. You have no clue what I was even implying.

Thank you! You got what I was saying. I was in no way shape or form talking about the millitary. I was talking about the federal government as in politicians and I think you understood that. Anybody here that thinks politicians are good for America needs to rethink that. Our federal government is the most wasteful beuracracy ever created and if it they were a business they would already be in prison.

What a nutjob that was that got off in some tangent from left field.
