GREAT flick. Top 3, Jaws, Goodfellas, Godfather. Very difficult to change my mind on this, but We Were Soldiers & Blackhawk Down are close

Grew up in southern Chicago suburbs, mate of mine lived a few miles from the 'infamous' cornfield ...
Funny that some don't realise this is a pseudo-documentary

That didn't happen in real life. They were actually killed in a basement in Bensenville a suburb west of Chicago and then there bodies were driven to that corn field and dumped. They were never beaten to death with bats and buried alive. They knew they were getting whacked, Anthony asked to say a hail mary before they shot him.

Encore had a great 80's marathon here. Karate Kid, Iron Eagle, Fletch, & the Red Dawn. Couldn't walk away.

Was it Bensenville? Thought it was Elk Grove ...
Anyway, I didn't mean the ending was 100% accurate just that the underlying story/etc did actually happen

However, in 2007, mob assassin Nicholas Calabrese testified at the "Operation Family Secrets" trial in Chicago that the brothers were killed in a Bensenville, Illinois, basement where the Spilotros believed that Michael would be inducted into The Outfit. According to court testimony, when Tony entered the basement and realized what was about to occur, he asked if he could "say a prayer".

by the way I go to Bensenville quite often. Town is a hole. There are no gangsters there anymore that's for sure.

honestly i think it drags out a bit and is overrated but still top 20 all time for me. amazing character development. no where near the level of Godfather imo.

Interesting, thanks Mr WC ... we left Chi-town in the early 90s so didn't see that.
The film does sort of lose its momentum at a point or two but can't bring myself to change the channel if I come across it surfing ...
