what did she do for these gamblers. Was she just a higher paid ticket runner? I know she wasn't giving them advice on what to bet. I know guys that work for pro gamblers. They will sit in the book from the 1st pitch of the first game to the last pitch of the last game. All for what $100 / day and maybe a tip on what to bet that day.

Yeah she is either confusing professional gambling with being a bookie or her publisher told her to never use that word/language.
