Any laptop can handle the tasks you want to run. Not too many people realize that nowadays the most important part of the computer for day-to-day use is the screen and this particular model has below average screen. See this review:

      Yes.

Also having a fast and dependable ISP is important. Make sure you have the latest wi-fi card available (minimum G standard), and a decent and dependable ISP with good customer service (yea right.) Have options available with an ethernet cable plug in or PCMCIA slot, and 2 USB ports (guessing they are standard now.)

A lot of people are having trouble with their ISP these days, and I hope your provider is decent.

Anyone using phone card broadband (eg. ATT) cards? I am guessing the accounts are quite expensive.

      GL.

I've never had to call my ISPs customer service department. What happens that would make you call them?

Had problems with my service stopping or slowing down (I have Comcast cable high speed) during the summer.

Service would be down for hours at a time. Had to resort to a modem to get my bets in!

          No explanations.

Since then my service has been fine.

Have friends who use DSL, and they seem to have fewer problems and the service is cheaper.

However, am considering going to Digital phone and bundling the cable, phone and internet service. Only thing stopping me is that I am also considering Direct TV because Cable sucks.

Too many choices........problem is once you commit you are locked in for a year with early termination fees.....

Early termination fees.....so your service sucks and you have to pay a fee to get out......same for "restocking" fees as well........

            Good laptop

As long as you have 2 gigs of memory and a good processor your fine.
