The Fishhead house thread got me to thinking.
Where are some of the best areas in the United States to getaway to stay for a vacation or even a few months at a time? Not looking to do it now but maybe one day down the road.
Now I guess a lot of that would be what your definition of "getaway" is. Mine is where it's obviously an area with lots of trees, land, maybe mountains and water but I guess that depends. Nothing too far "out there" like some place that doesn't have cable or internet access (if there are places like that still). I still want all the normal things but looking for a place that moves at a slower pace.
The one I researched and heard good things about is Flathead, Montana but I have never been there or any places like this for that matter except when growing and up going "up north" to Michigan's northern lower peninsula.
Anyone have a place they go to to getaway or heard of?
