Best "getaway" areas/places in United States
The Fishhead house thread got me to thinking.

Where are some of the best areas in the United States to getaway to stay for a vacation or even a few months at a time? Not looking to do it now but maybe one day down the road.

Now I guess a lot of that would be what your definition of "getaway" is. Mine is where it's obviously an area with lots of trees, land, maybe mountains and water but I guess that depends. Nothing too far "out there" like some place that doesn't have cable or internet access (if there are places like that still). I still want all the normal things but looking for a place that moves at a slower pace.

The one I researched and heard good things about is Flathead, Montana but I have never been there or any places like this for that matter except when growing and up going "up north" to Michigan's northern lower peninsula.

Anyone have a place they go to to getaway or heard of?

        2. Tampa/Clearwater in March......SPRING TRAINING(TIGERS 30 minutes away in Lakeland)

        3. Southern Maine coast..........YORK, KEENEBUCK(good enough for Bush, good enough for you)

        4. Northern Montana..............SUMMER, no explanation needed

        5. Wisconsin/Iowa/Michigan/Minnesota.............being a midwest kid, you understand I'm not joking(summer)

Sister in law moved to Denver this past year and they can't say enough about it. Was pretty driving thru. Different then anywhere else looks wise.

Have always wanted live on the east coast back in the day so may check out Maine one day. I like old fashion towns in a way.

Heard the same thing about Montana that an Wyoming but haven't been there.

The Michigan thing is more about being from there but now that I am gone I really can't believe people actually choose to live there. It is nice as it will always be hoom. I understand its scary too move but you only live once why settle for living there? Hell to think most of our grandparents moved acrossed the country without internet or much of any other information to help them. It's just funny that lots of people nowadays will not move in their lifetime basically staying in a place their granparents moved to almost 100 hundred years ago (then again I was one of those people once).

One thing I have learned is nothing feels like the home town you are from. Not sure you can ever replace that feeling. I haven't yet.

I think Wisconsin would be nice.

Colorado is nice. I lived a couple of years in Colo Springs ( south of Denver).

Good friend of mine invited me for a trip not far from Minnesota on a lake, but fishing is in Canada in 2 weeks. Obviously have to do customs. I'm not going, but from past stories, it sounds like a fun time and lots of fish to be caught.

                            Enjoy your trip.

BTW, a good time is also getting to Louisville Gardens for a night of professional wrestling and then downtown there are nude bars. Nothing like 3rd world countries, but it's a good time for guys who've never been out of the states like wrestling and naked chicks from Southern Indiana and Kentucky. Nice Backrooms for private time with the dancers are included.

Is there any signup deals? Say 5 cows and 3 goats with a 3x rollover?

General, when you put all of Ohio's sports teams in a list like that it's actually a pretty depressing sight.

The Midwest is loaded with Motor Sports for people who want to hang out with other good persons and enjoy a great time at the local dirt tracks.

There are some teams listed which are in the hunt and then there are some tremendous horse tracks also. Glass half full, Sir.
